You know what’s pretty funny about being heavily involved in a ministry that’s all about coffee? The fact that I don’t really drink coffee and don’t really know anything about the coffee world. It doesn’t agree with my body most times and I don’t want to be co-dependent on it. So if you think I am a coffee snob or passionate about coffee, that is just not the case.
The thing I do like about coffee is that it brings people to a slow pace and be present with one another. Some of my most vulnerable and transformative moments have been across the table from someone sipping from their mug. There is just something about sitting in a café with good company and a drink or even just being present with yourself and unwind and actually be able to think for once without being rushed. It’s irreplaceable.
This is what I’m passionate about, this is what my heart cares about. Not only does Kingdom Coffee want to give back to help out missions and their ministries, we are also on a mission in our own backyard in Modesto. We want to cultivate a life giving space for people to enter and stay awhile. We want to build relationships and love on the people that walk through those doors. People matter and we should take the time for what matters.
Modesto is my hometown and I love it. Despite its flaws and brokenness, this place has always felt like home to me. I never went out of state for college or work, I would like to believe it’s because the Lord has me still here in town for a reason. I believe Kingdom Coffee is one
of those reasons. Modesto needs a place like Kingdom Coffee. I know it.
