A Jesus Mission

What is the missionary care gathering?

The Missionary Care Gathering is the annual gathering of AJM staff and our missionaries to come together to reflect and recharge through workshops, group discussions, and times of prayer and worship. Missionaries from all over the world gather with the purpose of investing into friendships, connecting as a missionary organization, taking time to talk and listen to each other, and finding encouragement and rest. Providing ongoing care is at the core of who we are at AJM, and our mission is to militate “burnout.” The Missionary Care Gathering helps our missionaries to feel empowered to resume their work, loving God and sharing the Gospel.

What is the format?

The Care Gathering happens over five days together. Every morning and evening we have incredible Bible teachers taking us through contextualized messages that equip us to continue on mission. Community is our focus, so we avoid over-structuring programs to leave space for relationships to be invested into. There are opportunities to relax over a cup of coffee, explore the host country, or exchange stories with other missionaries about life and ministry.

What is the cost?

AJM works to make this a cost free experience. In registration, there will be a $50 deposit fee (per adult) to reserve your place at the MCG. AJM missionaries will receive that deposit back upon attendance. AJM guests who have been approved by AJM leadership are welcome to come and enjoy the ministry of the AJM Missionary Care Gathering.

Who is the Care Gathering for?

The Missionary Care Gathering is for the benefit of the entire AJM network. From kids to adults, volunteers to full-time missionaries and guests to members. We cherish the opportunity to provide a space of refreshment and like-minded community for missionaries for whoever would benefit. If you are an AJM member and have a ministry guest that you believe would benefit, please contact MCG Planning Team in order to guide their registration.

What about childcare?

We have a dedicated group of volunteers that come just for the purpose to care for our children. In AJM, children are a part of the family’s calling into mission as much as their parents and we want to provide equal care for them. During meeting sessions, the kids will have their own program. These volunteers will also provide childcare during designated free time so parents can enjoy fellowship. All childcare volunteers will go through background checks and training for the sake of child protection. If you know someone that would be interested in joining as a childcare volunteer, click here for the application!

Where is it located?

Every year MCG moves to different locations for our community to experience the cultures our missionaries are serving in. These plans are made based on accessibility of visa requirements, travel ability and local resources AJM is connected to. This year’s Care Gathering is located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania! This is also a perfect place for your own holiday, so feel free to arrive early or stay longer to enjoy personal rest before returning to your home. Any additional plans are your own responsibility.

How does travel and transport work?

More information on this will be coming soon!

AJM is going to romania!

For the 2025 Missionary Care Gathering, we will come together in Cluj-Napoca, Romania! Cluj-Napoca is the second largest city within Romania, housing multiple universities and a large international workforce. Cluj holds a strong history for AJM as the previous launching point for our Ukraine Response ministry, along with missionaries living there in both short-term and long-term capacities. This year we will be staying at West City Hotel, and the hotel staff are hospitable and accommodating. Within a short walk you can explore the Vivo mall or an indoor playground, and with a short drive you can visit Old Town with St. Michael’s cathedral, gelaterias, museums and other local landmarks.
