Keana Miller
Finance Director | Oakdale, California
Keana is currently based in the Central Valley, California, with her son, Judah, serving as the Finance Director of A Jesus Mission. Here is a bit of her story and heart of why she serves with A Jesus Mission.
“I have always loved missions. My parents served for just over 2 years in Swaziland (Eswatini) and had me while in the country. My parents instilled in me a deep heart for the Lord and living “on mission” no matter where we were. As I had opportunities to in short term capacities I was made more and more aware for the need for care and support for long term missionaries serving all over.
Specifically, when I was on a short-term trip at the age of 15 to West Africa, helping provide child care for missionary families while their parents received the opportunity for pastoral counseling and rest provided by the rest of the team I was with. It was on this trip that the notion of “missionary care” was introduced to me in a time of prayer with the Lord when I heard as clear as day, “You will be involved with Missionary Care.”
Being 15 and not quite sure what that meant at the time I stored up that call and waited to see what that meant.
Just a few short years later at the age of 19, I found myself joining A Jesus Mission to see what the Lord would bring about with the group of young people with the heart to see missionaries sent and stay on the field as long as the Lord has them in a place.
I started volunteering and trying to get as involved as I could, serving in onboarding, finance, and the care team, all while keeping open hands to go where the Lord would lead – overseas or stateside. In 2021, I officially came on in my current position as the Finance Director, handling everything from QuickBooks, payroll, to financial partner (donor) management! And though this isn’t what I thought the Lord meant when I was going to be doing missionary care, I see it as a full fulfillment of the promise spoken to me all those years ago. If one of the main reasons missionaries leave the field is financial instability, I can be a person to cover each donation, partner, and missionary in prayer as they are raising funds and going where Christ has called.”
