A Jesus Mission

Abigail alfred

MISSIONARY | brussels, belgium

As a pastor’s kid, I grew up knowing the truth of God’s Word, yet it wasn’t until my time at Bible college in York, England, that this head knowledge pierced my heart and I fully committed my life to the Lord. During that season, God began to deepen my compassion for families living cross-culturally—particularly U.S. families serving and living overseas.

Through close relationships with pastors, missionaries, and their families, I have seen how life abroad brings unique challenges. Children and teenagers often face frequent transitions, constant adaptation, and the internal pressure to behave a certain way, all while navigating normal developmental struggles of identity and faith. For many families, these pressures are compounded by distance from extended family, limited community, and the emotional weight that overseas life can bring. These realities can leave both parents and children feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and at times struggling spiritually.

God placed a clear burden on my heart for U.S. families living in Belgium, and through prayer and discernment, He confirmed His call for me to serve among them. I sensed the Lord inviting me to walk alongside these families—meeting them where they are and helping them build their lives on the firm foundation of Christ.

My ministry focus includes leading Bible studies for middle school and high school students, discipling women through Scripture and community, and assisting in Sunday services. My desire is not only to teach the Word of God, but also to invest relationally—sharing life together, offering encouragement, and creating space for honest questions, growth, and spiritual renewal.

“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our lives as well.”
1 Thessalonians 2:8
