I grew up in Michigan and attended church throughout my childhood, but my faith became personal during boot camp of the US Navy. In March of 1990, while reading a Gideons New Testament, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. After returning home, I was discipled and began serving in student ministry. During that season, God planted a clear call to ministry on my life.
For the past 25+ years, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of ministry roles, including Student Pastor, Family Pastor, Church Planter, Chaplain, and Lead Pastor. Looking back, I see God’s hand guiding each step of the journey. Every role has given me opportunities to walk alongside people, help them grow in their faith, and encourage them through life’s challenges.
One of my greatest passions in ministry is investing in others. I believe healthy churches are built when leaders are intentionally supported, discipled, and experiencing authentic community. Ministry can be both rewarding and demanding, that is why Hawksbill Ministries exists to support and serve people in ministry to develop and maintain soft hearts and hard shells. When church leaders are supported in this way, it creates long-term effectiveness and a stronger Gospel witness.
Above all, my most important ministry is my family. My wife, Kelly (2003), and I have been blessed with two wonderful children, Noah (2004) and Abigail (2007). Their love, support, and partnership have been a constant source of encouragement throughout my ministry journey.
