edc: Equipping displaced communities
Watt family ministry
Through the Equipping Displaced Communities (EDC) Program at Kathmandu International Christian Congregation (KICC), the Watt family walks alongside four specific refugee families at any given time. Over the years, some have resettled in developed nations, and when they do, new families are quickly taken on so the number always remains at four. Because no special visa is needed to get into Nepal, often refugees arrive on a tourist visa, and when that expires, they remain in the country “illegally.” Refugees leave their passport countries for many reasons; some include religious persecution, civil unrest, or simply in search of a better life.
Support looks different for each family. It may involve helping them with skill training, finding jobs, preparing for resettlement, or connecting them with sponsoring churches abroad. The heart of this ministry is simple, to advocate for the displaced, walk with them in their struggles, and empower them with hope for a future.
