Syerus & Angela Gill
Missionary Care | Indianapolis, Indiana
Hey, guys! We are the Gills: Syerus, Angela, S.J., Liesel, and Beau. Syerus gave his life to the Lord in 2006 at Indiana State University through a college outreach program called Campus Outreach. When a friend shared with him Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” It changed his perspective as he was wandering through young adult life without hope, and it gave him Life. Angela gave her life to the Lord in 2012, where she found freedom to come straight to the throne of Jesus through Hebrew 4:16, “Therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain help and mercy in your time of need.” She also was in need of grace and forgiveness and came straight to the Father for renewal.
We were married in October of 2013 and have been chasing after Jesus and sharing His love with people throughout the world their entire married life. We’ve served side by side in many outreach ministries to kids in our longtime community of Lafayette, IN, and our kids live a life of service and love for others alongside us. From 2015-2018 we pursued international missions. We went to the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Hungary for a year, spent time in Italy, and St. Kitts. Through some health needs arising in 2018, we settled in Lafayette, IN, and Sye took a job at the Crossing School of Business and Entrepreneurship. It’s a private, Christian high school that focuses on empowering struggling students to become contributing members of their communities through academics, job training, and faith-based character education. This is an outreach focused ministry as struggling students are at-risk youth. The staff at this school are Christians, and the students are a mix of Believers, Seekers, and non-Believers. On school breaks, as we follow a school schedule, we try to take short term mission trips to encourage and maintain friendships/relationships with missionaries throughout the world. Our kids usually attend too as we believe they are used mightily by the Lord to encourage missionary families and their children as a whole. They also are great at connecting with cultures as children and parenting are universal throughout the world.
We just recently relocated to Indianapolis, where Syerus will continue his work with the Crossing at a different location in Noblesville, IN. He will continue to serve struggling high school students in the classroom by aiding their academic journeys, while also teaching entry level basics of the electrician trade. He has the opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ freely on a daily basis. Please pray for these teenage hearts to see their need for Jesus and surrender their life to Him. Additionally, please pray for the students’ various home life circumstances, generational habits and mindsets to be broken, and journey into adulthood to be contributing members of their communities. Angela also works at the Crossing as content creation, documenting the ins and outs of daily life at the Crossing.
At AJM, we have been helping debrief missionaries from-short term trips to Ukraine during the crisis and our ministry there. We intend to grow in our missionary care ministry through AJM!
