Missionaries | Punta de Palma, Izabal, Guatemala
Our call to be missionaries began long before we ever met. Growing up in different countries, one can imagine how different our childhoods were. I grew up in a small family in Bethany Beach, Delaware and she grew up in a big family in Guatemala City. At the age of 14 I began to follow Christ and she at the age of 16. As the years went on, both of us felt the Lord calling us to missions. We met on the mission field in Guatemala in January 2019. I had already been living in Guatemala for about 2 years at the time. She was working as a social worker in a ministry in Guatemala City and I was serving at another ministry in the inner city. We started dating at the brunt of the pandemic in March 2020 and got married in March 2021. For the rest of the year, we kept serving in the same ministries, but we knew that the Lord was calling us to start working together, we just didn’t know where, or when, or how. In December of 2021, through a series of events, the Lord ended up calling us to move to Punta de Palma, Izabal to serve as missionaries with a ministry called Misión El Faro. Serving at El Faro is completely different than in Guatemala City. The culture, the language (Q’eqchi), the climate (extremely hot and humid year round) and many other things are some of the different challenges that we are now facing as missionaries here. Our role at El Faro is Community Development and Evangelism. We will also play a role in hosting mission teams and translating for them. These communities are very small villages where there is no running water, no stores, no churches, and no roads. We are really excited for these new opportunities to serve the Lord! Our minimum commitment at El Faro will be 2 years and then we will see where the Lord leads us from there. But, for now, we need your support and prayers to keep moving forward. Please consider partnering with us through prayer and by donating. We are so thankful for your support! God bless you!
